Contest of Champions--Apple challenge oversight

I don't know if the oversight is universal on all the mag6 companions but I guess I start here.

I was doing the promotion quest for Bat Masterson when I reached the third part of the challenge. I'm supposed to collect four apples from a Cave of Echos. However when I enter the cave, the game tells me I need to collect six apples from Ettins.

After I completed the task, Bat will make a comment that we acquired four apples. So this lead me to believe that the six apple requirement is just an oversight.
