There are many species of monkey and I am curious as of to what species of monkey is monkey king?

Monkey King wasn't born a monkey, he's a Celestial Spirit. I don't know the legend very well, but you can look it up. He's a very popular character in Asia.

There are even quite a few monkey king movie s but I thought Pirate101's version was born naturally
